ROTC Scholarships

There are several different types of scholarships available to students and enlisted soldiers interested in joining UCLA Army ROTC.  To learn more about any of the options below, contact the UCLA Department of Military Science Recruiting Operations Officer, Mr. Romeo Miguel at (310) 825-7381 or via email at rbmiguel@milsci.ucla.edu.

  • ROTC Campus Based Scholarship: Four, three, or two-year scholarships (full tuition or housing up to $10,000/year) for students who meet all eligibility requirements necessary to contract to become commissioned officers in the active-duty Army, Reserves, or National Guard.  Scholarship recipients also receive a monthly stipend of $300 to $500, and a yearly book allowance of $1,200.   
  • Minuteman Scholarship:  Four, three, or two-year scholarships for students who will commission into the U.S. Army Reserves. Scholarship recipients also receive a monthly stipend of $300 to $500, and a yearly book allowance of $1,200.  In addition, Minuteman Scholarship recipients participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program, which gives them experience with an Army Reserve unit while earning additional money for their service.
  • Army Foreign Language Flagship Scholarship: Four, three, or two-year scholarships (full tution or housing up to $10,000/year) for students majoring in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, and Turkish.  Scholarship recipients also receive a monthly stipend of  $300 to $500, and a yearly book allowance of $1,200.
  • Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarship: ​The GRFD scholarship is available to those cadets participing in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) between UCLA Army ROTC and a Reserve/Guard unit. GRFD recipients are funded each year at full tuition and receive $1,200 for books. They are given an ROTC allowance for 10 months of the year at $450 per month during their junior year and $500 per month during their senior year. As a member of the Guard or Reserves, they will also receive drill pay. Those cadets who accept the GRFD Scholarship are locked into the Guard or Reserves upon commissioning
  • Green to Gold Scholarships: The Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program is a program that provides eligible, active-duty enlisted soldiers an opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree or a two-year graduate degree and earn a commission as an Army officer. Those soldiers wishing to obtain a Green to Gold Scholarship must apply via goarmy.com and receive letters of acceptance from both the university of their choice and the UCLA Professor of Military Science, in addition to other necessary paperwork
